About

Picture
My name is Lisa Taylor and I’m a garden educator. I have been teaching people of all ages to garden organically for nearly 30 years. I’m a Master Composter and a Children’s Gardener (I began this work as a Master Composter, I really got into rot. I got so good at making compost I had to start a garden so I had a place to use it.) I have written a couple of books – Your Farm in the City and the Maritime Northwest Garden Guide. I developed my Garden Educator chops at Seattle Tilth where I worked for 20 years. While I was there, I taught thousands and thousands of people every year all about the wonders of an organic garden. When peopled asked what I did for a living I would say, “I grow and eat plants with children and the adults who drive them around.”

I have a passion for teaching everyone where their food comes from and how to grow and eat it. I believe that gardening together helps us learn to care for plants, animals and one another. This is a pathway to peace.
My mission is to inspire and educate everyone to grow an edible organic garden; and to harvest and eat the food that you grow.

My vision is to make the world a better place by teaching people where their food comes from and how to grow and eat it. We are going to do this organically, in a way that cares for people, plants and the Earth. Health of people and the health of the environment are linked, and we can make both better by growing and eating homegrown food. Growing an edible garden together helps us learn to care for the plants, animals and one another. This is a pathway to peace.
